Which micronutrients support the nervous system and immune function — with authorized claims?
In the EU, only the wordings of the Union List may be used for food supplements. For the following nutrients, authorized claims exist, provided the daily dose reaches at least 15% of the nutrient reference value:
Nervous system and psyche
Magnesium contributes to the normal functioning of the nervous system and to normal psychological function, as well as to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue. Vitamin B6 and vitamin B12 contribute to the normal functioning of the nervous system and to normal psychological function.
Cell protection
Vitamin E contributes to the protection of cells from oxidative stress. Vitamin C does too, and additionally contributes to normal collagen formation for the normal function of the skin.
Immune function
Vitamin C, vitamin D and zinc contribute to the normal function of the immune system.
What we don't claim: For plant-based components such as Rhodiola rosea, ashwagandha, quercetin, fisetin, apigenin and ergothioneine, there are no authorized health claims in the EU. We name them as formulation components and do not attribute any effect to them — not even when preclinical data are available.
