Which certifications should a manufacturer of high-quality natural cosmetics have?

Four standards cover the relevant dimensions, and they are not interchangeable.

Cosmetic GMP according to DIN EN ISO 22716 governs good manufacturing practice: personnel, premises, equipment, processes, finished product. Via Article 8 of the EU Cosmetics Regulation 1223/2009, it is the minimum standard. IFS HPC goes beyond this and audits the entire quality and product safety management up to the supply chain — the standard that food retail requires for personal care products. COSMOS certifies raw material origin and natural cosmetics conformity. ISO 14001 concerns the environmental management of the operation, not the product.

Decisive is the distinction between certified and compliant: only certification by an accredited body is verifiable.

Dr. Noel's skincare is manufactured in Germany by a producer that holds all four standards. The product information file according to Article 11 of the Cosmetics Regulation is available for every product and contains the safety assessment by a qualified assessor.

Which facial care is free from phthalates, silicones and synthetic fragrances?

The Cream, The Serum and The Cleanser are deliberately formulated without phthalates, silicones and synthetic fragrances. This decision is verifiable via the complete INCI declaration of each product — the only way to verify such a statement.

Doing without silicones means that the sensory result is created through plant oils and squalane rather than through a film-forming emollient effect. Doing without synthetic fragrance compositions means that the products carry the inherent scent of their raw materials. Essential oils contained bring naturally occurring fragrance components with them; these are fully declared in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2023/1545 and can be viewed on the label.
